I need a composer.
I'm currently in pre-production on an ambitious 5min short film I wrote and will be directing. The film is being produced by Shakabuku Films.
The funding is coming from Northern Film and Media but the budget is very low so it is unlikely that we would be able to pay a composer very much, if at all.
However, if the piece is successful it will be picked up by the Arts Council and shown around the world in major festivals.
Are any of the composers that post here interested. It wouldn't be a large job (as there is probably only about 1 min of music required)and it could potentially showcase your work to a wide audience.

The film is going to be shot in late October and then hopefully completed by the end of November.
The story focuses on one day in the life of a middle-aged, middle-class man. He is seemingly unable to display emotion - the high and lows of everyday life have been made inexistent in the face of daily rountine and apathy.
He has a subconcious desire to escape but is unable to control or understand the way this manifest itself. On this day however, his life is disrupted.
The settings mainly revolve around city life - motorway bridges, characterless offices, city skylines etc.
Stylistically it will reflect the mudanity and sparseness of the main characters life - very cold and 'mechanical', muted greys and blues. The soundtrack is going to very important in reflecting this - both diegetic and non-diegetic.
The original script is currently being redrafted to suit budget restraints but I can send you that if you're interested - it gives the best impression of my intent.

You mentioned the short is ambitious. Does the script reflect this? If not, in what ways were you thinking?

Yeah, I think the script reflects it. However, my producers are making me rewrite it to make it possible to film (there are certain budget and time restraints involved).
This is the first piece I've worker on in a professional capacity and the first thing I've done since finishing university so I really want it to be the best thing I've done.
It's going to be shot on HD with some expensive films lenses BTW, so it will - at the very least - look very impressive.
I've sent you a copy of the script. Expect this to potetially change quite drastically in subsequent rewrites.

I'm working on a arts council funded project and don't believe we are paying very much for the equipment - although I'm not producing it so can't say for certainty.
Any equipment costs are going to be split across several projects that the producers are working over two weeks as part of the same scheme. Therefore the cost per project isn't going to be that high.
Anyway I shouldn't really have to justify myself when I'm trying to offer opportunities to people on this board. You're trying to suggest that I'm attempting to exploit people and that's highly offensive.

The shooting date is now probably going to be around the start of november with the edit completed by mid december (i think).
